The most common psychiatric disorder in children is Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. The most common drug used to treat the disorder, Ritalin, is associated with too many side-effects to list here. New research points to a natural supplement that is of great benefit to these children—pycnogenol.
In this most recent study, children with ADHD were supplemented with pycnogenol for 4 weeks. The researchers concluded “Results show that 1-month Pycnogenol administration caused a significant reduction of hyperactivity, improves attention and visual-motoric coordination and concentration of children with ADHD. In the placebo group no positive effects were found. One month after termination of Pycnogenol administration a relapse of symptoms was noted. Our results point to an option to use Pycnogenol as a natural supplement to relieve ADHD symptoms of children.”
In other words, it works and works well! Also read my article on omega-3's, which has a section on ADD and ADHD.
