Wednesday 07/26/2006 Fruit Every Day for Healthy Bones

Researchers recently set out determine if there was a relationship between fruit and vegetable intake and bone density. Surprisingly, fruit intake was more powerfully associated with healthy bones than was vegetable intake. This relationship was true for both young and older women. It is interesting to note that women in the United States consume calcium to an extent far beyond that of most other countries, and yet we have one of the highest bone-fracture rates due to osteoporosis! A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and low in acidic foods such as soda and coffee will help you to build bones that last! And don't forget exercise, whey protein , and good mood! See the study here.
