Wednesday 09/06/2006 Increase Your Blood Pressure With Tylenol

Tylenol use is a widespread epidemic in this country. In addition to being the number one cause of acute liver failure and the number one cause of calls to poison control centers, regular Tylenol use increases your blood pressure. A 2005 study in the journal Hypertension found that women who regularly use Tylenol have about a 100% increase in high blood pressure!

The apparent reason is that Tylenol, a toxin, requires detoxification in your kidneys as well as in your liver. Your body's main detoxifier is called glutathione. As your kidneys detoxify Tylenol, glutathione levels plummet and the kidney suffers. When your kidneys become unable to regulate water balance high blood pressure results. If you have used, or currently use Tylenol, I highly recommend alternative means of pain control--chiropractic, acupuncture, exercise--anything. I also recommend rebuilding your glutathione stores with undenatured whey protein, N-Acetyl-Cysteine (NAC) and Milk Thistle. The standard treatment for Tylenol overdose in the emergency room is the intravenous administration of NAC to build glutathione levels and detoxify the Tylenol. You can buy this product over the counter--its an amino acid and is very safe to take at the recommended levels. Link to Tylenol Study
