Sunday 09/10/2006 Clean Green

An article to in "yahoo news" reviews some of the advantages to using "green" household cleaning supplies. "According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, potentially hazardous chemicals are widely used in conventional household products. Cleaning and disinfection products as well as paints and varnishes all contain chemicals called organic solvents. The compounds can be released into the air during use and even when stored, according to the EPA." The article goes on to discuss 2 companies called Caldrea and Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day, who claim their products "are earth-friendly, biodegradable, have no phosphate, no chloride, no solvents and are plant-derived, and not tested on animals". The next time you buy cleaning supplies, go to a local health food store and read the labels. In my opinion, cleaning is no fun--there's no sense in getting cancer while you do it!
