“Vertebrogenic” Hearing Loss

"Vertebrogenic" Hearing Loss Nevada City

Acid-Base and Osteoporosis Nevada City CA

Chiropractic in its modern incarnation was born when a man named Harvey Lillard told D.D. Palmer about his deafness. He said that he had received trauma to his upper back years before and had been nearly deaf ever since. D.D. examined him and found a sore vertebrae in his upper back that seemed to be out of position. D.D., who had been studying various means of healing at that time, decided to attempt to reposition Mr. Lillard's vertebra. An instant later Harvey Lillard went to the window and is quoted as saying "I can hear the wagon wheels turning!", and chiropractic was born.

Recently, a paper was written by a member of the neurology department at a German University titled "cervicogenic hearing loss". The paper reports on 62 people with hearing loss and poorly functioning necks. The author concludes "Findings in 62 patients suffering from vertebragenic hearing disorders are reported before and after chiropractic management. Results indicate that these hearing disorders are reversible, as demonstrated by audiometry and OAE. The therapy of choice is chiropractic manipulation of the upper cervical spine."

When considering chiropractic, I encourage you to remember that spine care affects all systems in your body. It has been shown, for instance, that there are immediate, significant changes in brain function immediately after a chiropractic adjustment, and that there are significant, immediate changes in immune function and system-wide inflammatory changes. Truly, chiropractic is one of the most significant contributors to the alleviation of suffering and improvement of human health known!
